Uc Interview - EHIABHI GOODNEWS SPEAKS - SUG, don't betray the love of the students. . . .

Greetings to my Lovely Critics,

During the weekend, we were opportuned to meet with one of Social Science Finest, the brain behind the GOODNEWS UNIBEN and also OPEN MIC (NEWSLETTER ) slated to hit different faculties very soon.

¤ GOODEVENING SIR, MAY WE KNOW YOU?

• Am Ehiabhi ibhade Goodnews from Esan north East, Uromi to be precise, Studying social work in University of Benin

¤ OHH THAT'S REAL GREAT, WHAT LEVEL ARE YOU NOW?

• 200lvl

¤ SO CAN U TELL US ABOUT THIS GREAT INSTITUTION FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE

• Like you have said already this institution is great and it is filled with great potentials and great minds also but one issue that the students have specifically is that they don't know what the institution actually stand for they just come and want to pass through this great institution with a good grade thinking that is all they need in life but they forget the motto of this great institution KNOWLEDGE FOR SERVICE Uniben is actually a place where kings and queens are made that's if you are ready to be bent.

¤ "UNIBEN IS ACTUALLY A PLACE WHERE KINGS AND QUEEN ARE MADE, THAT'S IF YOU ARE READY TO BE BENT"

CAN U TELL US WHAT YOU MEAN WITH THE WORDS ABOVE?
OR BETTER STILL TELL US MORE ABOUT IT

• When I said bent I meant Uniben surely don't leave you unrefined the way you came in. She(Uniben) will surely improve your personality

¤ QUITE NICE,
SO TELL US, HAVE THIS INSTITUTION REFINED YOU IN ANÝ WAY?

• Yes in many ways and one beautiful thing about things institution,it can set one on his path to achieve his goal

¤ SIR, AS A STUDENT WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT POLITICS IN THIS INSTITUTION?

• I'll say politics in Uniben so far haven't been very encouraging because students are gradually losing interest in student unionism because some administrations in the past under-performed

¤ SIR, DO YOU FORSEE ANY CHANGES IN THE NEAREST FUTURE?

• Yes but this change will come if the students are ready to make it happen

¤ THE STUDENTS PER SAY, IS YOU AND I. HAVE YOU MADE ANY MOVE TO ENSURE THIS CHANGE IS EVIDENT??

• Yes in my own little way I've served as the director of welfare of my class in 100lvl and back then we were able to go round school begging for funds when one of my course mate was seriously sick and by Gods grace we were able to provide the money for her operation and currently am working on a charity project SAVE A SOUL which is meant to meet some needs of the IDP's in Edo state, e.t.c

¤ THARS A GREAT MOVE.
BUT SIR, THE CURRENT SUG EXECUTIVES, DO YOU THINK THEY CAN ALSO EFFECT CHANGE?

• I'll say it's too early to score them because they just started and the urge to impress Nigeria students as expected is still high in them but I'll say let's see how everything turns out but judging by their activities so far I'll say they can

¤ FAIR ENOUGH,
FOR SOMETIME NOW, YOU HAVE BEEN CONSISTENT IN GIVING OUT INFORMATION IN YOUR OWN VERY WAY. WOULD LOVE TO KNOW, HOW IT ALL STARTED $ WHAT REALLY INSPIRED YOU?

• When I gained admission into Uniben I observed that information wasn't passed appropriately and the average Uniben student wants to be informed so in the second semester of my first year I contested for the P.R.O 2 position in my faculty (faculty of social sciences)and I started doing the news update then but it wasn't as innovated as it is now so a friend advised that it would be better if I showed originality in my news update so that made me to tag it GOODNEWS UNIBEN and I created a column for NEWS WITHIN UNIBEN and since then the follow up and feed backs I get have been motivating and encouraging.

¤ WOULD REALLY SAY AM A FAN HERE,
THOUGH NO INSTITUTION CAN BE GUARANTEED TO BE TOTALLY PERFECT, CAN YOU GIVE INSIGHT ON WHAT YOU FEEL THIS GREAT INSTITUTION SHOULD BE IN THE NEXT 2 YEARS?

• The institution surely will rise again

¤ ANY WORD OF ADVICE TO THE SUG, AND THE STUDENT

• My advice to the SUG is don't betray the love of the students that delivered them into the positions they are in now.I know we are humans and we ain't perfect but that shouldn't be an excuse for failure.
My advice to the students of Uniben and the entire Nigeria students is that they shouldn't let anyone tell them that they can't make it and that they are not good enough to achieve great things.

• THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR TIME SIR
REALLY APPRECIATE YOU AND YOUR WORKS

• The pleasure is mine. . . .
